Writer | Speaker | Activist

Not just a speaker. A true storyteller.

Our stories have the power to change, to connect, and to heal.

Leadership is developed in many ways. I connect with audiences through personal stories in a way that helps them connect with their own stories of leadership and resilience.

These Lovely People Have Broadcast My Words

What I Do

Anyone who’s known me will say that I have always been the outspoken type. But I didn’t know how to use my voice. I would get frustrated in meetings when I would suggest an idea that would be immediately echoed by someone else (almost always a cis-het-man), who would get the accolades for their brilliance.

I quickly learned to stop speaking up and just start doing in order to be noticed.

In 2014, the president of the marketing agency I worked at approached me and said that we had an opportunity to present at a conference for one of our partners, IBM. (No big deal, just one of the major tech companies in the world since before I was born.) I was terrified, and my experience was so good that I was hooked.

I knew in my soul that I wanted to do more public speaking.

Learning how to use my voice (both with the spoken and written word) has been the most empowering thing I've ever done.

I tell my stories so that others know they are not alone.

How I Found my voice

Around the same time, I read Brené Brown’s The Gifts of Imperfection, where she says, “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.”

The most important rhetoric I ever delivered was when I gave my victim impact statement at the sentencing hearing as an advocate for my daughter. I needed the judge to know how badly my daughter was hurt and how her father’s actions impacted our lives.

Our stories have the power to change, to connect, and to heal.

Learning how to use my voice (both with the spoken and written word) has been the most empowering thing I’ve ever done. I tell my stories so that others know they are not alone. I use my stories to educate and bring to light some of the greatest injustices we face in our society today.
