Storyteller Summer Camp™

A writing retreat with the best vibes of summer camp.

Did you hear that? A little whisper, a soul-tug that’s saying you have a story to tell…but you’re not sure what the story is, or maybe you just aren’t sure how to craft it. The idea is tickling the inside of your brain, and it’s getting LOUD, but you’re not sure what, exactly, to do with it.

Think back to the summers of your youth—those carefree days when you’d get dropped off at camp, ready to spend the next few weeks discovering who you truly were, sometimes trying on new personas, just to see how they fit (because who would know the difference?).

Summer camp was the place where sharing youre secrets with strangers felt less scary than the campfire ghost stories. You found your people and formed deep soul bonds almost instantly. You felt seen in a way you hadn’t before. You left as BFFs and have the hand-tied bracelets to prove it.

Summer camp was the place you swapped stories, forged connections, and left forever changed, and yet, somehow, more you than you’d ever been.

Storytelling is as old as humanity itself. It’s how we shared information and passed down tales of our heritage long before we had emails and blogs and curated Instagram feeds. We literally gathered around the fire and entire chapters of human history were exchanged.

What about your most sacred stories?

I’ll tell you what: stories are what connect us. And you have a story to tell.

Introducing Storyteller Summer Camp™

Storytelling can be used in so many ways, but the underlying magic is learning how to connect your words with the historical timeline of an event and how it shaped or moved you.

But you’re holding back.

You’re holding back because you think you don’t have a story worthy of sharing.

You’re afraid of feeling judged, or being vulnerable, or exposing that you are, in fact, human.

Imagine a space that has all the vibes of summer camp—a place where you can step away from all of the things that allow you to just be. A place that creates space for discovery. A place that is ripe for connection. With yourself. With five of your new besties. With your stories.

Summer camp is for slowing down. For taking in. For discovering that walking on the beach counts as writing. It’s noticing the sound of crickets chirping as the day cools and getting mesmerized by their song. When you’re away from the distractions of daily life, a deeper truth emerges within.

Women are hungry for community right now, and we are bursting to share our stories. But we don’t know how to get started nor have we made the time for it.

A Summer Camp for Writers

Okay, sure, I suppose the adult word here is “retreat,” but Storyteller Summer Camp™ is so much more than that. I’ve learned that the best way for stories to unfold is to give them space to emerge.

Over a long weekend (4 days, 3 nights), you’ll gather with a handful of women in a cozy home on the Oregon Coast. You’ll spend time learning how to craft three specific types of stories:

Stories to heal

The best stories come from the scar, not the wound. But first, you have to get the story out of you and onto the page.

You'll learn how to transmute the pain and become the hero of your own story.

stories to connect

Your story becomes more powerful when you begin to share it. There's a reason that the "Me Too" movement caught fire. When someone connects to a piece of your story, a bond is formed.

You'll learn that your story will inevitably help you find your people.

stories to activate

Never underestimate the big impact a seemingly small story can have. Your lived experience cultivates empathy in a way that inspires others to be the change they want to see.

You'll learn how to share a story in such a way that people can't help but take action after hearing it.

July 24-27, 2025 | Cannon Beach, OR

The magic of the Oregon Coast is unmatched and I can think of no better place than Cannon Beach. Its iconic Haystack Rocks were not just the backdrop for the iconic 80’s adventure, The Goonies, it will be the setting for your summer experience.

You and your five new friends will be joining me at a private home. Cannon Beach is a place near and dear to my heart and I want to share it with six badass women who desire taking some time for themselves to build community and share their stories.

We’ll arrive Thursday afternoon, July 24th, and depart Sunday afternoon, July 27th.

The beach in the foreground fills half the image, and the blue sky with white puffy clouds fill the other half. Haystack Rocks in Cannon Beach, OR dot the horizon.

Hi, I'm Eunice

It wasn’t that long ago that I realized that stories have been a consistent thread in my life.

Although I’ve always been a writer, it was during the hardest season of my life that I finally felt confident to call myself that.

Then I discovered that the more I shared my story, I started to find my people. The ones who got what I’d been through. The ones that became dear friends and allies. And before I knew it, I began sharing my stories on stages and in statehouses. I learned that my story is powerful and it can activate change.

FAQs

Although this retreat is focused on writing creative nonfiction, they say write what you know, so if you’re a fiction writer who just wants to learn how to tell better stories, you’ll fit in just fine.

First of all, if you write, you’re a writer. There aren’t credentials that make you a writer or not a writer. Secondly, we welcome people at all levels of writing, from new writers to published authors.

Nope! This is a space for exploration and practice, not perfection. Whether you’ve never shared your writing or you’ve got a few published pieces under your belt, you’ll find something here. We meet you where you are.

Sharing is always optional, but keep in mind that the magic happens in the sharing. You’ll be invited to share during workshops or circles, but never required. This is a brave space and you have autonomy.

I intentionally create the spaces I facilitate to be inclusive and supportive.

Due to the shared spaces of the home, registration is limited to women (including trans women) and non-binary folks for this retreat.

We’ll have nourishing, delicious meals and snacks throughout the weekend, with dietary preferences accommodated. After you register, you’ll receive a form to share any allergies or restrictions.

We’ll be staying in a cozy, shared home with shared bedrooms (think: sleepover, not sterile retreat center). You’ll have your own bed, and I’ll do my best to match sleeping preferences (e.g., early birds/night owls).
